Exhibitors encouraged to sign up for Virtual Fall Open House

Faculties, academic programs and student service areas are being encouraged to participate as exhibitors during Virtual Fall Open House, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Chris Busch, Associate Vice President, Enrolment Management, says the event provides an additional opportunity for the University to expand its audience by welcoming prospective students to learn why they should apply to UWindsor, while strengthening connections with individuals who attended the last Virtual Open Day and want to learn more about programs and services of interest.

“This event cannot happen without the collective efforts of the entire campus community – faculty, staff and our outstanding students," Busch says. "We look forward to an exciting Virtual Fall Open House."

Exhibitors are invited to attend an upcoming Virtual Fall Open House event meeting on October 19th at 3:30 p.m. to learn more about important dates, exhibitor resources and contacts, as well as more information on improved exhibitor services to make participation even easier.

The annual scholarship fundraising concert to honour the life of School of Creative Arts voice teacher Catherine McKeever will be virtual this year.

Songs for a Scholarship

An annual scholarship fundraising concert to honour the life of School of Creative Arts voice teacher Catherine McKeever (BMus ’94), will move online this year to accommodate social distancing.

McKeever’s former student, Brianna DeSantis, established the event in 2013 following her teacher’s passing due to cancer in October 2012.

“Cathy was many things to many people,” says friend and fundraiser host Elspeth Maynard. “She was a wife, a mother, a sister and an aunt ... but to those of us who were not family, we remember her for her amazing performances as a singer and as a wonderful, caring voice teacher and friend.”

Organizers say it is only fitting that a scholarship established in her name not only to honour her but also provide financial support to future singers studying at SoCA.

Each day during the week of October 19 – 23 a video of a live performance by one of Cathy’s former students, Cathy’s sisters, or Cathy herself will be posted on the University of Windsor YouTube channel, SoCA Facebook page and SoCA website, along with a link for friends, alumni, and supporters to donate on the University’s secure website.
