The “Culture and Communications Seminar” at the University of Toronto from 1953 to 1955, was an attempt to bridge disciplinary divisions in emerging fields of study in media and communication.
Michael Darroch will explore the experimental work of the group’s faculty and students in his free public lecture “Codifications of Reality: Interdisciplinary Origins of Early New Media Research in Canada” on Friday, Feb. 8.
The event will begin at 3 p.m. in room 1163, Chrysler Hall North.
Dr. Darroch is a faculty member in the doctoral program in argumentation studies, a sponsor of the talk along with the Centre for Research in Reasoning, Argumentation, and Rhetoric.
