Accomplishments on the field of play and in the classroom were honoured Tuesday at the Windsor Lancers annual Evening of Excellence banquet.
Football defensive end Kolade Amusan and softball pitcher Megan Lozinski were named athletes of the year; middle Darian Koskie of men’s volleyball and defender Kat Campana of women’s soccer received the DeMarco awards for best combining academic and athletic achievement.
Amusan led the country with 11.5 sacks to earn selection as an all-Canadian and an Ontario University Athletics first-team all-star.
Lozinski impacted games on the mound and at the plate, striking out 58 batters in 79 innings pitched to earn her third straight Ontario University Softball all-star berth.
Among other honorees are:
- Gino Fracas Coach of the Year to Jean-Paul Circelli of football;
- Captain’s Trophies to Ema Kralik of track and field and Mason Kohn of men’s hockey;
- Super sophomores Aliah Admans of women’s volleyball, Harley Martin of track and field, and Weagbe Mombo of football and track and field;
- Rookies of the year Leah Tate of women’s basketball and Quintin Greenidge of men’s volleyball.
