Mingle and Jingle event designed as social gathering

A horse-drawn carriage will transport celebrants across campus to the Faculty & Staff Holiday Mingle and Jingle on Tuesday, December 13.

horse-drawn carriage“We have arranged for a horse-and-buggy ride as the next best thing to a sleigh,” says catering manager Dean Kissner. “We’re really hoping some jingling bells will help to set the tone for the event.”

The exact route has yet to be mapped, but Kissner expects the carriage – weather permitting – to trace a loop picking up passengers through the campus from about 11:15 a.m. to about 3 p.m.

Once they reach Vanier Hall’s Winclare Room A, guests will enjoy a cosy atmosphere that allows them to share some holiday cheer with their campus colleagues.

“I think people should prepare to be delighted,” Kissner says. “It is planned as a complete stand-up social gathering.”

For the $8 price of admission, guests will be able to sample a variety of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, eat some warm roasted chestnuts, and enjoy a glass of wine along with eggnog and hot chocolate. Traditional mulled wine will also be available at the cash bar.

Kissner promises a live jazz band and other entertainment, starting at noon.

Tickets are available until December 9 from Catering Services; phone 519-253-3000, ext. 3277 or 3276. In addition, a collection of canned goods and cash donations at the door will support the Student Food Bank.
