University official takes over reins of smart community board

Bruce Tucker, UWindsor’s associate vice-president, academic, was installed as chair of the Connecting Windsor-Essex board of directors during its annual general meeting on Thursday, May 24. He succeeded Brian Gregg, chief administrative officer of the Corporation of the County of Essex, who had held the position for seven years.

The organization works to provide the community with access to infrastructure and online services to improve the quality of life in learning, work and play. The meeting also highlighted milestones and projects from the past year.

In other intelligent community news, Kristina Verner, research and development officer for the Centre for Smart Community Innovation, has been appointed Ontario vice-president of i-Canada, a project of the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance designed to spur the development of Intelligent Communities across the country.
