Campus Police issue tips to deter bicycle theft

Campus Community Police have issued a crime advisory warning of bicycle thefts on campus in recent weeks, along with descriptions of two persons of interest and a list of tips to deter thieves.

Among the tips:

  • Secure your bicycle with a solid locking mechanism.
  • Make sure the structure to which you lock your bike is secure.
  • Register your bicycle with the service’s Bicycle Registration System.
  • Park your bike in a well-travelled area.

Officers ask that community members report any suspicious activity, such as persons loitering around bicycle racks or bending over “working” on a bicycle, to 519-253-3000, ext. 1234. Read the entire advisory on the Campus Police Web site.
