Award-winning Arctic climate change doc to be screened tonight

A professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences is encouraging her students and the rest of the campus community to head down to the Capitol Theatre tonight to check out what she says is an incredible documentary about climate change and disappearing glaciers.

Chasing Ice documents the travels of nature photographer James Balog, who was dispatched to the Arctic in 2005 with the assignment of gathering visual evidence of climate change. The award-winning film captures his incredible journey to provide incontrovertible proof – often at great risk to his own health – that our planet is in crisis and what we do to it matters.

“This is really a magnificent film,” said professor Maria Cioppa, who helped convince the Windsor International Film Festival to screen the documentary again. “It will certainly have great appeal for students in our department, but for anyone who’s interested in the environment and climate change.”

The film begins at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $6 for students and $12 for adults.
