Program pledged to support first-generation university students

More than 350 volunteer mentors have stepped forward to support incoming first-generation students to make the transition to university life.

Now in its fourth year, Connecting4Success pairs first-generation students—those whose parents have no experience with post-secondary education—with upper-year students in their academic program. It runs through their entry year, providing educational workshops and social activities.

Coordinator Danielle Handsor invites faculty and staff to recommend the program to students they believe would benefit from a mentor relationship. Incoming first-generation students may apply on the website, www.uwindsor.ca/c4s. For more information, contact Handsor at danielle@uwindsor.ca.
