The 2015/16 University Players season promises a mix of sultry, whimsical, madcap, provocative, poignant, and witty, says Tina Pugliese, director of the School of Dramatic Art.
“With each season, we strive to bring you selections that will both entertain you and advance the training of our students,” she says. “This year we are creating a colourful splash of live entertainment for your enjoyment.”
The season opens September 25 with the 2003 Pulitzer Prize winner Anna in the Topics, a sensual and poetic drama, followed by Noël Coward’s comedy Blithe Spirit.
Pugliese suggests audiences escape the insanity of the holiday season with the all-ages madcap comedy, Scapino!
The new year begins with the powerful drama An Experiment with an Air Pump, followed by Brian Friel’s bittersweet Dancing At Lughnasa and closing with a lively restoration comedy of manners, The Double Dealer.
Publicity coordinator Anna Galka is particularly excited about launching a redesigned website for the student troupe.
“It looks awesome and we are quite thrilled,” she says. “We want to spread the news to the entire campus and the broader community.”
