Hundreds gather in remembrance

Students, faculty, staff and retirees gathered in front of Memorial Hall on Friday to pay tribute to Canadian soldiers who fought and fell in the cause of freedom.

Acting students Somerville Black and J.D. Leslie joined professor Lionel Walsh to read letters from archives of the Canadian wartime experience.

The Remembrance Day service also included an address by UWindsor provost Douglas Kneale, a recitation of the poem In Flanders Fields by drama professor Brian Taylor, playing of The Last Post and Reveille by trumpet student Amanda Hanson, the University Singers performing O Canada, and other attendees planting flags in the lawn. It concluded with the laying of a wreath below the commemorative plaque in Memorial Hall.
