Panel discussion to launch weeklong focus on technology

A panel discussion Monday, November 13, on the state of technology in Windsor-Essex will launch five days of activities aimed at highlighting the local tech community.

WEtech Alliance has organized TechWeek YQG as a showcase to bring together entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, and the broader community, says president Yvonne Pilon.

“Competing in today’s knowledge-based economy will require a strong technology community and a culture of innovation,” she says. “Our regional tech community is so dynamic and so diverse that we cannot wait to tell some of the amazing success stories and tackle together some of the challenges.”

In addition to Pilon, Monday’s panel will feature:

  • Heather Pratt, executive director of research and innovation at the University of Windsor;
  • Jim Marsh, chair of business and IT programs at St. Clair College;
  • Brent McPhail, president of Brave Control Solutions; and
  • Sarah Morris, labour market info communicator for Workforce WindsorEssex.

The discussion will be webcast over Facebook live starting at 6 p.m.

The rest of the week’s events include a Tech Show focused on artificial intelligence at the Caboto Club on Tuesday, November 14; several events Wednesday on the theme “Tech Talent;” the Georgie Odette Leadership Symposium in the Odette Building on Thursday; and Tech Awards ceremonies Friday.
