UWinsite Finance, the University’s new financial information system, launched Thursday, February 1.
“As the first new system to go live as part of our campus’ Enterprise Resource Planning project, the launch of UWinsite Finance marks a key milestone,” says Joan Dalton, executive director of the UWinsite project. “It is the first step in achieving our goal of ensuring our faculty and staff members’ information and service delivery requirements are met as they provide a purposeful and enriching experience to our students and all key campus constituents.”
UWinsite Finance is an implementation of Oracle Cloud Financials. The University of Windsor is the first post-secondary institution in Canada to implement this product.
“UWinsite Finance is a revolution of the financial processing on campus, including online expense reporting, requisitioning, and state-of-the-art reporting,” says Gillian Heisz, university controller and lead of the UWinsite Finance implementation team.
The system represents a tremendous amount of teamwork, she says, calling it a solution designed by the campus, for the campus.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the UWindsor project team for their incredible commitment to bringing the best possible solution to our campus community,” says Heisz. “Thanks also to the more than 100 key stakeholders from across campus who participated in the end user consultations throughout the system development and implementation phases. We look forward to the formal launch event on February 7.”
A comprehensive training program will support faculty and staff in the transition to the new system. Approaches include instructor-led training, self-guided learning materials, and step-by-step videos.
