A ceremony in the CAW Student Centre Commons at 12:30 p.m. Monday, February 5, will open AfroFest, a weeklong celebration of the culture of Africa and its diaspora.
Cultural and educational activities will document and celebrate the contributions made by peoples of African descent to the world.
Drumming lessons will follow the opening ceremonies at 1 p.m. and at 4 p.m. a fashion show will feature pieces by Black designers.
Tuesday’s activities include the discussion “Let’s Talk about Black Womxn” at 2 p.m., dance performance and lessons at 3:30 p.m., a game competition at 4:50 p.m., the Taste of Diaspora cuisine at 6:45 p.m. for $5 a plate, and a movie screening at 8:30 p.m. in Alumni Auditorium.
