Trumpeter to cover spectrum in grad recital program

Music student Matthew Lepain wants his grad recital to reflect the full range of styles he explored during his four years at the University of Windsor.

Entitled “Spectrum,” his program ranges from early music to contemporary, classical to jazz, featuring compositions by Leonard Bernstein, Astor Piazzolla, Christian Scott, Miles Davis, and more.

“Under the direction of Ross Turner and Robert Fazecash, I have had the privilege of studying many contrasting musical styles,” Lepain says. “I selected the repertoire for this performance based on its profound influence on my personal development as a musician as well as to reflect the current state of my musicianship.”

His recital is free and open to the public. It is set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3, in the SoCA Armouries Performance Hall, located at 37 University Ave. E.
