Screening an early celebration of Canadian cinema

The Leddy Library will host a free public screening of the 2013 comedy The Grand Seduction at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27.

The film is directed by Don McKellar and stars Taylor Kitsch and Brendan Gleeson. It tells the story of a dying Newfoundland fishing village trying to convince a young doctor to take up residence — by any means necessary.

Tuesday’s screening is set in the comfy seating area behind the Brown Gold Café on the library’s main floor. Organizers will provide free popcorn and door prizes.

The event is presented in anticipation of National Canadian Film Day, a cross-country celebration on April 17.
