The annual meeting of one of Canada’s largest organization of researchers focused on the study of animals is coming to Windsor.

Biology professors Barbara Zielinski and Dennis Higgs will co-host the 58th annual meeting of the Canadian Society of Zoologists, a professional organization dedicated to the enhancement of education and research in zoology at the provincial, federal, and international level.

“We will be welcoming almost 300 participants to Windsor from across the globe for the entire week,” said Dr. Higgs. “This is a great chance for our faculty and students to highlight and promote the research we do here on campus while also hearing about ground-breaking research from around the world.”

As part of the kickoff to the weeklong events at the St Clair Centre for the Arts on Monday, May 13, University of Windsor interim president Douglas Kneale will provide a welcoming address, and Andrew Muir, scientific director of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, will deliver a lecture on its work to protect this vital resource. The free public presentation will start at 6 p.m. in the Chrysler Theatre of the St. Clair Centre for the Arts, 201 Riverside Dr. W.

The full event will run May 13 to 17. Find more information and the full program on the conference website.
