Europe, 1600-1750: a time of lavish royal courts, brutal plagues, religious wars. History professor Guy Lazure will describe this period to provide context for a recital of Baroque music, Sunday at the Capitol Theatre.
Playing authentic or replica instruments, the Nota Bene Baroque Players aim to recreate what composers intended audiences to hear. Presented by 4th Wall Music, the concert will also feature drama students Erin Callaghan and Dominique Nickels demonstrating dances of the time in period costumes.
Baroque in Time begins at 4 p.m. March 1 in the theatre, 121 University Ave. W. Admission is $20, with a student rate of $10 and child rate of $5. Find performer bios and purchase tickets on the event website.
