The Entrepreneurship Practice and Innovation Centre (EPICentre) is excited to be part of a new venture created to support women in entrepreneurship and science, technology, engineering, and math disciplines.

“We are proud to be a founding member of this network,” says EPICentre director Wen Teoh. “In order to double the number of women in entrepreneurship by 2025, which was the goal of the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy launched by the Government of Canada, we need everyone in the entrepreneurship ecosystem to come together to support women-led startups.”

She says the network will serve as hub for information and resources. Its website, www.risewindsoressex.com, will list relevant activities, events, programs, job boards, funding opportunities, and mentoring opportunities. Rise Windsor-Essex is open to all organizations wishing to empower women in STEM and entrepreneurship.

Among the EPICentre’s contributions is the EPIC VentureWomen accelerator program. Launched in January, it aims to provide support to tech startups founded by women and will culminate with the Final Pitch Day on March 30.
