Finance re-organization to improve service to researchers

Following consultations with researchers across campus, the Office of Research Finance has re-organized the way it allocates research grants to the accountants on its team.

Historically, grants have been assigned to the accountants based on the funding agency. Effective April 1, rather than assigning accounts based on the funding agency, it transitioned to an approach of allocation by faculty.

This will allow each principal investigator to have a single point of contact for financial issues for all of their grants, regardless of the grant type or funding agency.

Research finance accountants will manage all grants by faculty, with the exception of those from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation and Ontario Research Fund:
