Virtual tour offers visitors an immersive experience

A virtual tour launched this week enables prospective students to explore the University of Windsor campus through vibrant 360-degree panoramic images of campus buildings, “hot spot” locations that highlight key features, and an optional audio narration, says Chris Busch, associate vice-president, enrolment management.

“With fewer students physically visiting universities before applying, a virtual tour provides a platform to convey campus culture and differentiate us from other institutions, allowing us to tell our unique story,” he says.

The Office of Enrolment Management has spent several months creating a new virtual tour on the Circuit Tours platform. Users can visit 25 campus spots, ranging from iconic buildings like Dillon Hall, to the Windsor Hall and School of Creative Arts downtown locations, to residence buildings and more.

“We are so happy to provide an immersive experience that highlights the investments being made into our campus,” says Dr. Busch. “This virtual tour platform is one of many touchpoints that prospective students have with the University of Windsor on their Future Lancer journey.”

He notes the importance of remote recruitment during the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, giving credit on this project to digital communications technician Jesse Bombardier and digital recruitment ambassador Kennedy Wonnacott, as well as to Circuit Tours for its support in launching this new platform.

“One of the features we’re especially excited about is the ability to use this technology to develop customized tours at the faculty, department, or even program level,” Busch says. “We’re looking forward to working with our partners to make greater use of the potential for richer content.”
