Entrepreneurial alumna sponsors inspirational award

University of Windsor alumna Jennifer Charron (BA 2006), a past participant in the EPIC VentureWomen program, took a risk at a time when few dared to, beginning her entrepreneurial journey at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now she aims to help those following after, sponsoring the She Inspires Award, which will confer a $1,000 cash prize on a woman entrepreneur to put towards founding a business. The inaugural prize will be announced Dec. 9 at the EPIC VentureWomen final pitch competition.

Charron’s company, Logic Executive Search and Workplace Solutions, provides professional recruitment expertise, outplacement services, and human resources support to clients across Canada and the United States.

“I am inspired by the female role models that encourage us to dream big, break barriers, and make an impact in our community,” says Charron. “I am proud to support the EPICentre VentureWomen Program that provides support for women changemakers looking to reimagine the future.”

Wen Teoh, director of the Entrepreneurship Practice and Innovation Centre (EPICentre), recalls Charron’s tenure in the second cohort of VentureWomen.

“In the span of the four-month program, we watched her firm grow and flourish with the proper guidance, mentorship, and support provided by EPICentre, along with Jennifer’s determination to create a successful venture to help connect businesses in our community with ideal candidates at a time when organizations were struggling to navigate the complexities of recruitment on their own,” Teoh says.

Charron earned the top pitch award at the conclusion of her own time as a mentee, and now volunteers as an advisor to program participants. Learn more on the EPICentre website.
