Concerts to spotlight student talents

Concerts this weekend will showcase the talents of student instrumentalists and vocalists.

On Friday, the 41-piece University Wind Ensemble under the direction of Trevor Pittman take to the stage for an evening of music inspired by video games, steampunk, urban sculpture, and the oral histories of Northwestern Indigenous peoples. The performance will also feature digital creations by art students under the direction of professor Sigi Torinus.

Saturday evening, it’s time for the University Jazz Ensemble directed Robert Fazecash. Get ready to swing listening to songs by Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Sonny Rollins, Wes Montgomery, Dizzy Gillespie, and many more. The big band is joined by vocalists Allison Boismier and Sabrina Novelletto, both members of Shahida Nurullah’s studio.
