Applications open for Canada Summer Jobs program

The Office of Career Development and Experiential Learning in partnership with the Department of Finance are accepting internal applications for the Canadian Summer Jobs program grant, which aims to help Canadian youth further develop their skills and knowledge, preparing them to successfully transition into the workforce.

The University of Windsor secures approximately 25 positions each year to help supervisors stretch their budgets a little further while providing students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience.

“As a public sector employer, the University of Windsor is eligible to receive funding for up to $7.75 per hour or 50 per cent of the minimum wage for six to 16 consecutive weeks,” says Krista Kelly, interim manager of career development and experiential learning. “This is a great option for supervisors who are planning on hiring students into full-time roles during the semester that will wrap up before Labour Day.”

Faculty and staff interested in hiring through the program can submit proposals for inclusion in the University of Windsor’s application by filling out the online request for funding. The deadline to apply is Thursday, Dec. 22. All applications for positions at the University of Windsor must be submitted by an employee with the authority to enter into an agreement and provide the financial details necessary to claim funding at the end of the summer.
