Anti-Black Racism course now open for registration through Continuing Education

Additional sections are now open for registration for The Fundamentals of Race and Anti-Black Racism course.

The 18-hour course will focus on issues related to race and its origins, anti-Black racism, and the construct of whiteness. Through case studies and the sharing of experiences, participants explore their own relationships to power, privilege, and oppression to enhance their awareness within their personal and professional interactions.

“The instructor skillfully guided the class through the lens of historical, social, economic, and other perspectives of the topic,” says past participant Kelly Gregoire. “The assigned course materials were in a variety of mediums and were helpful to understand the topic more intensely. Overall, I was very impressed with the content, organization and expertise of the instructor and class.”

Two sections are now available for registration:

Upon completion, learners will receive a Certificate of Completion.

The course is open to all, and active full-time and part-time employees are encouraged to register.

Limited spots remain for active full-time and part-time employees to receive $100 off towards the course fee of $279 + HST, made available through the Department of Human Resources.

The course is offered in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-President, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and supported by the Black Council of Windsor-Essex.

More information and registration can be found on the Continuing Education website.
