Food Services recognized for commitment to local produce

The University of Windsor’s Food Services has won recertification under the Culinary Tourism Alliance’s Feast On program, which recognizes businesses committed to sourcing and serving Ontario-grown food and drink.

Program co-ordinator Erica Orleni of the Culinary Tourism Alliance expressed thanks to the University for championing local food and beverage.

“We look forward to continuing to celebrate your unique taste of Ontario and sharing your success stories in the coming year,” she said. “Thank you for supporting Ontario’s farmers and artisans!”

The University procures more than a quarter of its food from local sources. Executive chef Paolo Vasapolli credits Windsor-Essex with providing opportunities for relationships with farmers.

“We’re lucky to be located in one of the most fertile regions in Canada,” he says. “We can get the freshest goods while supporting our local economy.”
