Jazz standards to grace concert program

The University Jazz Ensemble will add some seasonal flavour to a program of great standards during its end-of-semester concert on Friday, November 30, at Banwell Community Church.

Under the direction of Bob Fazecash, the ensemble will ring some Jingle Bells along with a selection of charts that includes Billie Holiday’s God Bless the Child and Herbie Hancock’s Chameleon, as well as You’re Nobody til Somebody Loves You.

Along with the big band of more than 20 musicians, the concert will feature a set by more intimate student combo.

Jazz ensemble to pair concert with dance music

Put on your dancing shoes and shimmy down to the St. Clair Centre for the Arts this Friday for the annual spring concert by the University Jazz Ensemble.

Director Bob Fazecash will lead the group through a concert set starting at 8 p.m., then open up the floor for dance music until midnight.

The evening will feature vocalist Leah Harris, flutist Alison Moraites, and special guest Latin percussionist Mike Raccette, as well as a cash bar and a light buffet at 10 p.m.

University Jazz Ensemble set to shine in fall concert Friday

Vocalist Leah Harris will front a 20-piece big band during the University Jazz Ensemble Fall Concert, Friday, December 2, at Banwell Community Church.

Director Bob Fazecash will lead the ensemble through a selection of charts that spans the gamut of the genre.

Harris is in her fourth year of music studies at the University of Windsor. In addition to performing with the Detroit band Foundation of Funk, she plays in Windsor with a jazz trio and as a solo act.

Nature of evidence subject of discussion

In a legal context, the study of evidence is often equated with the study of the law of evidence. A free public lecture on campus Tuesday will apply concepts from reasoning theory to the process of proof.
