Student recruitment office to coordinate targets with academic area

Saying she hopes to work with faculties and departments to meet their student recruitment goals, Katia Benoit is looking forward to expanding recruitment in the US while continuing a focus on key regions in Ontario.

Benoit, a liaison officer since 2000 and a two-time UWindsor grad (BSc 2000, M.Ed 2008), recently took up an appointment as acting director of student recruitment. In this role, she will manage UWindsor student outreach efforts within Canada and the US.

Investment in Ontario Universities Fair proving valuable for student recruitment

The presentation of the University of Windsor at the Ontario Universities Fair, September 28 to 30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre was equal to any university in Ontario—and better than most, said Dietmar Lage, head of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures.

The event is a key opportunity to demonstrate to high school students the benefits of pursuing their education here. Dr. Lage said participating as part of the recruitment team gave him a great sense of pride.

Financial aid administrator appointed acting director

Marian Doll, a financial aid administrator since May 1990, will assume the position of acting director of the Student Awards and Financial Aid office while a formal search identifies a permanent successor to Aase Houser, who will retire August 1.

In announcing the appointment, Dave Bussière, assistant vice-president, admissions and records, praised Houser’s almost 40 years of service to the university, characterized by her “calm demeanour, diplomacy and tact” when dealing with stressful situations.
