The Leddy Library is offering guided tours of its facilities and resources Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Contributors to the Annual Giving Program who make their donations by April 30 will be credited with a gift to its 2012 Plant a Seed: Here We Grow Again campaign, says chair Bruce Tucker.
“UWindsor employees and retirees who participate will receive an invitation to this spring’s donor recognition event,” Dr. Tucker says. “It is a tangible demonstration of the University’s appreciation of those faculty and staff members who go beyond their work efforts to support student success.”

The second-year kinesiology major was one of hundreds of UWindsor students to enjoy a freebie from the Leddy Library on Tuesday.
Librarians distributed free cookies, coffee and tea as a goodwill gesture to students preparing for final examinations. Sales of decommissioned books helped to pay for the event.
“It’s awesome,” said second-year environmental science student Colette Drouillard. “It’s very nice for them to do this for us. Plus, I like free stuff!”
Participating in the University’s Annual Giving Program gives her a special feeling of accomplishment, says volunteer canvasser Karen Pillon.
“It’s fun to give knowing that we will benefit as employees,” she says. “The money we give isn’t going away; it will be spent where we spend most of our time.”
Building on the success of last year’s “Plant a Seed” campaign, this year’s theme is “Here We Grow Again.” A reception for volunteers Wednesday will help to launch the 2012 effort.
Sometimes it’s good to bend the rules, says Karen Pillon.
Head of the access service department at the Leddy Library, she will discuss that principle in her free public lecture “No student turned away: Using Kohlberg’s six stages of moral development to inform a customer service model,” at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, in room 302, West Leddy.
Teams from the Faculty of Law and the campus campaign for United Way raised more than $1300 for the charity’s iClimb event at the WFCU Centre.
Volunteers solicited pledges and then climbed the steps inside the east-end arena.
The law school’s team of students, staff and faculty collected $735 and the team from the central campaign raised $571. Members of the campus community also participated on other teams.
Sherri Overholt of the Centre for Executive and Professional Education helped to organize the event; Karen Pillon of the Leddy Library hosted warm-ups.
First-year music student Elizabeth Zuwala won Thursday’s DailyNews contest and two tickets to see Ascolta La Ciociaria, a celebration of classical Italian music, Tuesday, September 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Assumption University Chapel.
