Cross-country teams ready to race in national championship meet

The Lancer cross-country teams will look for top performances on Saturday when Canadian Interuniversity Sport celebrates 50 years of competition in the sport during its national championship meet in London. The event will feature 125 athletes from 25 schools in the women’s five-kilometre race at noon; 129 runners from 24 institutions are scheduled to take the start of the 10-kilometre men’s event at 1 p.m.

Six Lancers named OUA football all-stars

Ontario University Athletics named six Lancer football players to its all-star team Wednesday.

First-team all-stars are Jordan Brescacin at the position of inside receiver, Seamus Postuma at defensive tackle, Matt McGarva at defensive half, and Shea Pierre at cornerback. On the second all-star team are quarterback Austin Kennedy and wide receiver Cory Fernandes.

Lancers win football season opener, 38-5 over Toronto

Lancer Shea Pierre ran back the opening kickoff 104 yards for a touchdown and set the tone for a 38-5 Windsor rout of the Toronto Varsity Blues in football action Monday at the south campus stadium.

Interim head coach Joe D'Amore shared quarterbacking duties between Sam Malian and Austin Kennedy. Malian completed 12 of 19 passes for 107 yards while Kennedy passed for 31 yards on five completions of nine attempts and ran for a touchdown.
