The Pandey research laboratory is focused on evaluating the activity of natural extracts against human diseases, in particular, cancer. Relatively well-tolerated and nontoxic natural health products have great potential for developing cancer therapeutics, but the scientific validation of their activity, mechanism of action and standardization of the quality control is needed to bring them to mainstream therapeutics.
We have successfully brought the first natural extract Dandelion Root Extract with anticancer efficacy to phase 1 clinical trial in Canada.
We are working on identifying the anticancer components of dandelion root extract and investigating the mechanism of action. We are also working on 14 different natural extracts that have similar potential. We have a state-of-the-art cell culture facility and established models of different human cancers and a highly-skilled group of 4 graduate and 10 undergraduate students working with Dr. Pandey at the University of Windsor in collaboration with Dr. Arnason at the University of Ottawa.
Research grants and donations will provide funds for purchase research supplies and critical research instruments and stipends to outstanding student researchers. Supporting motivated young minds in research is critical for building future researchers in the area of natural health products. These students have presented their work at national and international conferences, winning several prizes and are writing research articles for publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
We need your help to purchase a centrifuge and image based cytometer that is vital to our continued success. The cost is in excess of $20,000. Please consider a gift towards this purchase. You can make your donation and indicate "Kevin Couvillion Research Project - Dr. Pandey" on the online donation form. A receipt for income tax purposes will be issued.
Your support is very much appreciated
