In response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), there have been changes made to the rest of Winter 2020 semester

Q1: Is the semester cancelled?
A1: No. Classes on Monday, March 16th through to Wednesday, March 18th are cancelled. Any lectures you would have had on these days will not be happening. On Thursday, March 19th until Friday, April 3rd all of your classes will resume as regularly scheduled. They will not be taking place in-person. Instead, they will be exclusively delivered through alternative formats (online, Blackboard, Skype, Zoom, email or other methods).
Q2: Are final exams cancelled?
A2: No. The University will be working on ways to modify the exam period, in terms of dates, locations and method of delivery. It is possible that the exam period will be extended for longer than originally scheduled. Updates will be shared as soon as more is known.
Q3: Can I come to my department's office
A3: At this time, we ask that you initially contact the office by email. Most faculty and staff are working remotely from their home.
Q4: Do I have access to my faculty members or other staff, to answers my questions and needs?
A4: Yes, via email, but please be patient. All in person meetings are cancelled to establish ‘social distancing’ and reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
Q5: Will there be changes to my course assignments & evaluations for the rest of the semester?
A5: Yes. Your instructor has been, or will be, in-touch with you this week. Please be patient we are using Monday March 16th - Wednesday March 18th to transform the courses. Your instructor will confirm all future assignments that were normally to be completed in the next 3 weeks, and how they will be modified, cancelled or absorbed elsewhere in the course. All of these changes will already have been discussed to ensure your best interests are preserved as best as possible. In some cases, courses will be impacted in very small/negligible ways. In other courses, changes will be more significant.
Q6: I was planning on graduating this Spring. Can I still graduate?
A6: All students that have applied to graduate for Spring 2020 are the top priority in ensuring your academics continue as uninterrupted as possible. While we cannot confirm what/if a public graduation ceremony would look like (if at all) as it is nearly 2.5 months away, we can assure you that any changes being made to courses and evaluations are being done to ensure your semester is protected and that a regular completion of degree remains on-time.
Q7: I was planning on taking an Intersession / Summer class. Are these still going to take place?
A7: It is safe to assume that any Intersession/Summer classes would take place in an alternative manner (virtual, online, etc.). It is unlikely they would be offered in-person.
Q8: I currently am employed as an RA, GA, TA, Concert Assistant or IGNITE student. Will I lose my job?
A8: You will not. We will continue to honour your student support roles as they were outlined. Your direct supervisor will be in-touch to assign you work that can be conducted in an alternative format.
Q9: I live in residence. Will they close?
A9: Residences continue to operate, as normal. Please see your residence advisor for any updates on protocols in-residence.
Q10: I am feeling anxious and stressed. Where can I go for help?
