All students must register via UWinsite Student. 


University Academic Calendars

The Academic Calendars are a comprhensive guide to all undergraduate and graduate programs and courses available at the University of Windsor. They outline the academic regulations and standards, program degree requirements, and general University policies for all undergraduate and graduate programs. The University of WIndsor publishes web calendars on a semester basis (Fall, Winter and Spring). 

Students may follow the academic rules and program regulations set out in the calendar of the term in which they were first admitted to the program or any subsequent calendar. 

Timetables

The Office of the Registrar publishes the timetables on a semester basis (Fall, Winter, and Intersession/Summer). Please check the timetable for course offerings.

Registering for Courses Information


Students can add or drop courses through UWinsite Student up to the 10th day of classes for Fall and Winter terms and up until the 5th day of classes for Intersession and Summer Session. 

Circumstances that involves late adds, time conflicts, overload, or aduit require for completion of the Course Add Form: Special Circumstances Form

If a student cannot enroll in a course through UWinsite Student and requires the instructor's permission. The student should contact the instructor to request permission to enroll. 

Course Overload Information 


Course overload is taking more courses in a term than the usual prescribed number. In the Fall and Winter terms, this means taking more than 5 courses per term. In the Intersession and Summer terms, this means taking more than 3 courses per term (with a total of 5 courses across Intersession and Summer). 

To be granted a course overload, students who have cumulative and major averages of 85% or higher may take one course on overload per term. Students with averages below this must obtained persmission for course overload from the Associate Dean, Academic and Student Success. 

Course overload will only be granted in exceptional circumstances. Students must fill out the Course Add Form: Special Circumstances Form and submit it to fahssundergrad@uwindsor.ca for the Associate Dean's request review. 

Repetition of Courses Information 


In order to upgrade the major or cumulative average in any program, a student may repeat a course up to two times

Permission to take a course for a third time will require permission from the Associate Dean, Academic and Student Success. Generally, before approving a third attempt, students will be asked to provide a rationale for previous poor performance and to present a plan for success for the course. Academic Advising Information


Academic Advisors are trained professionals who can help students with their academic programs. At the University of Windsor, there are two types of Academic Advisors: Central Academic Advising and Departmental Academic Advising. 

Central Academic Advising

Central Academic Advisors can help undergraduate students with: 

  • Choosing or changing your program or major. 
  • Understanding your Academic Progress Report and degree requirements. 
  • Understanding academic regulations and procedures. 
  • Adding, dropping, or withdrawing from a course. 
  • Developing a plan to deal with academic difficulties (e.g., Academic Probation & Required to Withdraw).
  • Reviewing your academic progress. 
  • Referral to other relevant campus services. 


To make an academic advising appointment with Central Academic Advising, you need to book an appointment through mySuccess and select "Academic Advising" on the left-hand side. 


Departmental Academic Advising

For specific questions relating to your programs, students are encouraged to go seek academic advising from their department academic advisor. Each department has a designated faculty member who specializes in undergraduate academic advising. 

Departmental Academic Advisors can help their students with: 

  • Choosing or changing your program or major. 
  • Understanding your Academic Progress Report and degree requirements. 
  • Understanding academic regulations and procedures. 
  • Adding, dropping, or withdrawing from a course. 
  • Developing a plan to deal with academic difficulties (e.g., Academic Probation & Required to Withdraw).
  • Reviewing your academic progress. 
  • Assisting with course repetitions.
  • Applying to Aegrotat Standing. 
  • Requesting for course exceptions for program requirements. 
  • Requesting for late voluntary withdrawal for courses after the initial VW date. 
  • Registering for course overload. 
  • Applying for Graduation/Convocation. 
  • Applying for grade appeals.
