When working remotely, Microsoft Teams is the supported campus platform for one-on-one as well as group meetings. A Teams meeting can be an audio conference or a video conference.
For successful audio and video conferences, Information Technology Services has the following recommendations.
Schedule a Teams meeting using Outlook or Teams. Your Outlook calendar is connected to your Teams calendar. So when you schedule a meeting in Outlook, it will show up in Teams, and vice versa.
- A link to join the Teams meeting will be included in the invite for those who want to join from their computer or mobile device. (Don’t have a microphone on your computer? There’s a free mobile Teams app available for iOS and Android devices.)
- For those who want to join with audio only from their phone, the invite will include a number to call and a conference ID.
- A Teams meeting can support up to 250 users
- How to schedule a Teams meeting
Join a Teams meeting using the Teams desktop or mobile app or Teams on the web. An easy way to do this is by selecting the “Join Microsoft Teams Meeting” link in the meeting invite. That said, there are multiple ways to join a Teams meeting through the Teams app or Teams on the web.
- If you are unable to join the meeting from your computer or mobile device, you can join the audio portion of the conference by using one of the phone numbers in the meeting invite.
- Try the toll-free number first: 1-866-603-5721 (NOTE: You must put 1 on the front of the number even if it is missing on the invite).
- If the toll-free lines are busy, use 226-782-3511 but please do so judiciously as the University is charged a higher rate per minute.
