Volunteer FAQ's

Can I volunteer during my regular work hours?

If the convocation event takes place during the regular work hours you still can volunteer for convocation. You will need to get approval from your supervisor. You will still be paid by your department. Your participation in convocation will be your department’s contribution to make this event a success.

Do I get paid for volunteering outside of my regular work hours?

Volunteering is the most fundamental act of citizenship and philanthropy in our society. It is offering time, energy and skills of one's own free will. As a result, if convocation takes place outside your regular work hours, you will not get paid. Your contribution to the University community will be recognized by the Chancellor and the President of the University.

What do I need to wear?

Volunteers are asked to wear business or business casual attire. All volunteers will be supplied with a gown so that the public can recognize the University of Windsor convocation volunteers.

Can I sign-up for more than one shift?

We have broken the volunteer opportunities into shorter shifts to reduce barriers to participation. Feel free to sign up for more than 1 shift.
