The Clinical Therapist provides counseling services to students including intake, crisis and short-term counseling, and consultation/triage for students presenting with personal and/or psychological issues.


The successful candidate will have:

  • Master-level degree in a counselling related professional discipline (Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Mental Health Nurse, or other closely related discipline) that includes a supervised clinical internship(s).
  • Psychologist, Psychological Associate, Social Worker (Master’s level), or Psychotherapist registered in the province of Ontario or eligible for registration, and have related work experience (2 years)
  • Minimum two (2) years related work experience providing individual psychotherapy for a variety of mental health conditions (e.g., mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, suicidal ideation, etc.)
  • Excellent listening skills, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, integrity, discretion, and diplomacy
  • Experience working calmly and effectively, maintaining a positive and professional attitude while working in stressful situations with a variety of individuals
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and public relations skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload


  • Previous work experience in a postsecondary student counselling services setting
  • Knowledge of Nursing and Medical students

Classification "VIII" per Schedule A of the Collective Agreement
