PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

As one of the two administrative managers within the Odette School of Business (OSB), the Manager, Student Success & Career Services, leads and manages the ongoing operations of all the student and external activities in order to optimize student engagement, recruitment, retention, career development and post-graduation engagement. Duties of this position include but are not limited to:  overseeing the support staff structure within the School to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency in supporting the work of the School, managing and maintaining a comprehensive prospective student outreach strategy for undergraduate and graduate programs within the OSB, managing the functions involved in measuring a comprehensive student advising and experience engagement for undergraduate and graduate programs strategy within the OSB and responsibility for managing the overall design, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive community/alumni outreach strategy for undergraduate and graduate programs within the OSB.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Business degree or equivalent post-secondary education with related work experience as determined by the Department
  • Five (5) years’ experience in advising, career counseling and employment advising with post-secondary students
  • Three (3) years of progressive managerial experience, ideally in a unionized environment.
  • Familiarity with the application of career development, student development and leadership development theory
  • Experience in the delivery of psychometric assessment tools; must include MyersBriggs, CareerLeader, or StrengthFinder
  • Demonstrated work experience with and understanding of coaching models
  • Extensive knowledge of employment strategies, the labour market and internet-based job search resources and tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including the ability to present to large and small audiences
  • Experience achieving positive outcomes through encouraging, supporting, coaching, and mentoring others
  • Ability to adapt, respond to a changing environment, and continuously learn
  • Demonstrable ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong computer skills and competency with commonly used internet, communication, and business-related computer applications (including MS office applications, Lotus Notes, internet browsers, data bases, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master of Business Administration degree or other appropriate professional designation or Master’s degree
  • Successful completion of an accredited coaching / training program
  • Thorough grasp of University of Windsor policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of courses, degrees, minors, certificates, and concentrations offered at OSB
