Vice-President, Human Resources - Ms. Rita LaCivita
Ms. LaCivita joined the University in 1998 as an Employee Relations Manager and was thereafter promoted to the role of Executive Director and later to Chief Human Resources Officer, reporting to the President. On July 1, 2015, in recognition of her leadership and strategic expertise in human resources, she was assigned the institutional responsibilities of Academic Labour Relations and promoted to the position of Vice-President, Human Resources.
Ms. LaCivita provides human resources counsel and advice to the Senior Administration and provides support to the Board of Governors and its various subcommittees. Ms. LaCivita is responsible for the University’s human resources policies, programs, services and legislative compliance and is the University’s Chief Negotiator during collective bargaining. She leads a team of HR experts in the areas of Academic Labour Relations, Employee and Labour Relations, Employment, Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety, Wellness, Pension and Benefits administration, Employee Engagement, Organizational Development and Training.
Ms. LaCivita represents the University of Windsor on provincial working groups with the Council of Ontario Universities and has served on the executive committee of the Council of Senior Human Resources Officers. Ms. LaCivita is a University of Windsor Alumnus with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a concentration in Human Resources and holds the CHRL designation through the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario.
