UWindsor Together: Student Mental Health and Remote Learning Services

Special Message from Dean Khan

Dear Students, Faculty, Coaches, and Staff of the HK Family,

Yesterday was the end of the exam period of the 2019-2020 academic year. I want to express heartfelt congratulations to all for your efforts in successfully completing the semester during such extraordinary times. These unprecedented circumstances have been challenging and stressful for many as we navigated to the completion of the academic year. With very little time to plan and prepare, instructors had to modify their courses while students were required to adapt to the new learning and assessment methods. Many of you had to make lifestyle changes and sacrifices that were not expected. Nevertheless, your resiliency and positive outlook has been exemplary during periods of uncertainty. It was truly amazing to see how everyone in the HK Family pulled together and supported each other. I hope you can all take a moment to look back and feel a sense of satisfaction and be very proud of your accomplishments.

Several students will be completing their degree requirements this year. I know that is not the way you had envisioned the final weeks of your program to be like. A University education is more than just the courses you take. It is about preparing for the future by learning how to make a positive difference in society through the people you meet and the friends you have made for life. I hope that you have cherished your experience with us and have many wonderful memories. Although Spring Convocation has been cancelled, it would be great if you are able to attend Fall Convocation. We would be thrilled to see you. In the meantime, I hope that you can celebrate with family and friends, albeit while adhering to social distancing measures as they remain in place. We wish you the very best as you move onto the next stages in your life. We have valued being a part of your journey and you will always be HK Family.

For the students who will be returning, we hope you have a safe and productive summer. Although we do not know what the education landscape will look like in the months ahead, we do look forward to the time when we will see you all again back on our UWindsor campus. The ping pong table will still be there! As we continue to move through uncertain times, staying healthy and safe is of the utmost highest priority. We are here to support and help in whatever way we can. Please do not hesitate to contact us in the Faculty of Human Kinetics if we can be of any assistance.

Wishing you all the best of health,

Michael
