Dr. Millar joined the Department of Kinesiology in July 2017 in the area of Sport Management. She previously held a faculty position at Niagara University in Lewiston, New York. Dr. Millar earned her PhD in Sport Management in 2015 from Western University, and holds a Master of Arts in Applied Health Science (Sport Management) from Brock University and a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa.
Dr. Millar’s research falls within the nonprofit sport sector and focuses on the process of capacity building within community sport and recreation organizations, workforce development in national sport organizations, and community sport organizations as agents in policy implementation. Her research has been published in refereed academic journals such as Sport Management Review and Sport Management Education Journal, as well as presented at International sport management conferences including the North American Society for Sport Management, European Association for Sport Management, Leisure Studies Association, North American Society for the Sociology of Sport, International Association for Communication and Sport conferences, as well as the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action conference.
