Kinesiology Graduate Student Association

The Kinesiology Graduate Student Association (KGSA) is a student body of graduate students in the Department of Kinesiology. We focus on providing programs, services, and social events to provide support for our fellow graduate students and to enhance every student’s experience during their time in our MHK or Ph.D. programs at the University of Windsor. We are governed by a group of students who represent different labs, streams, academic years, and more! We are always available should you have any questions about your student experience or suggestions for ways the department can facilitate a better experience for you and your fellow graduate students.

Message from the KGSA Executive Team

Welcome to the HK family! As the incoming and outgoing Presidents of the Kinesiology Graduate Student Association (KGSA) and fellow graduate students, we are thrilled to have you in our community of graduate students in HK. The beginning of a new school year can be exciting and challenging, and we want to assure you that you are supported by the faculty and students in the Department of Kinesiology as you embark on your studies.

As we strive to return to in-person learning, we understand that life as a HK graduate student will look different this year. KGSA is committed to supporting our grad students with academic and social events to maintain connection throughout the year. We will have a number of events throughout the semester to enhance your graduate school experience and create lasting memories.

Please reach out to KGSA at any time and follow us on social media to stay up to date with what is happening in the HK Family. We are looking forward to having everyone back on campus and hope you get involved in KGSA.

Welcome to the University of Windsor. Let’s have some fun!

KGSA Events

As we return to in-person learning, KGSA will also focus on in-person events to reconnect students within the program. Our goal is to provide engaging academic and social related events throughout the year! Below are some examples of our annual Fall and Winter events; we hope you join us!

Fall Events

  • Monthly study sessions held in the Human Kinetics building where students can study, write, collaborate with fellow students, and mark assignments in a productive workspace that is fueled by free coffee and food provided by the KGSA.
  • Academic and professional development workshops focusing on scholarship application preparation.
  • Pumpkin Bash Halloween Party + Contest for students to decorate and carve pumpkins that are displayed in the Human Kinetics office for the Department to vote for their favourite. Students are not only provided with pumpkins and supplies, but also snacks and dinner!
  • Adopt a Family to provide clothes, toys, and household items to support a local family in need. In 2019, we were fortunate to support a fellow Lancer and her young children.

Winter Events

  • Student socials in Downtown Windsor for students to network and socialize with each other.
  • Candy Crush Valentine’s Day program where students and faculty purchase chocolates from the KGSA and write kind messages to other graduate students and faculty.
  • Academic and professional development workshops focusing on preparing for conferences and making a research poster.
  • NCAA March Madness Basketball Tournament bracket challenge for students to place their picks for the NCAA tournament each year.
