Financing

The Lancer Centre will cost $73 million to build. We are proud of our partnership with the University of Windsor Student Alliance (UWSA), the Graduate Student Society (GSS) and Organization of Part-time University Students (OPUS) who have embraced this project with a $55 million contribution.

Their generosity demonstrates their commitment to the University of Windsor along with the Lancer and Windsor Proud brands. This is the largest student contribution to any university in Canada. Their belief in this project along with their desire to ensure an inclusive environment that encourages excellence in all areas of health, wellness and human potential will be their legacy to UWindsor and the Windsor-Essex community for generations to come. We are now asking for your help to raise $10 million to complete the project.

Financing

  • $1.5 million pledged by the University of Windsor Alumni Association towards Lancer Centre related initiatives

Building Campus

68% of students report that campus recreation facilities influence their choice of university and 75% of students report that participating in recreation activities and programs have expanded their interest in staying fit and healthy.

The Lancer Centre will be a modern space:

  • where students and community can come together to enjoy recreational programs and services
  • where students, faculty and staff will join to create unparalleled academic opportunities in teaching, research, and sporting excellence
  • that will enhance the UWindsor experience and reputation
  • that will provide a new home for celebrating success including spring and fall convections
  • support academic programs including kinesiology, nursing, engineering, business

Building Community

Staying active no matter our age is vital to our overall physical and mental wellbeing. The Lancer Centre will promote and provide opportunities for physical and social activities across all ages and stages of life. Whether participating in a yoga or an aqua fitness class, enjoying a walk around the new indoor track or training for a competition, our new modern facilities will help Windsor-Essex students, families and community connect mind, body and soul.

Our new centre will provide:

  • a modern updated space that blends recreational and social activities for student
  • affordable sport and recreation programs for students and residents
  • the ability to accommodate our diverse population
  • provide physical activity programs for mental health, autism, cancer, cardiovascular disease

  • 2,000 participants in Lancer summer camps

The University of Windsor has a proud history of creating champions and has captured numerous provincial and national titles with both our talented athletes and dedicated coaches. To build and expand on the UWindsor legacy, this new state-of-the-art-facility will help to recruit develop tomorrows leader’s and champions in all aspects of life.

The Lancer Centre will strengthen and expand our ability to keep our local student athletes’ home, attract and recruit high-performance students, enhance our reputation and add to the already exceptional student experience at the University of Windsor.
