Winter 2018 Graduate Assistantship Posting

GA/TA POSITIONS AVAILABLE FOR
WINTER TERM 2018

In accordance with Article 12:01 of the CUPE 4580 Collective Agreement, the Department of Psychology invites applications for GA/TA positions for Winter 2018. Each GA position will be for a total of 140 or 70 hours. Each TA position will be for a total of 100 or 50 hours. The approximate total funds for GA Assistantships allocated to the Department of Psychology for Winter 2018 based on last year’s allocation and projected enrollment is 65 GA’s for a total of 9,100 hours.

GA and TA positions will be assigned in accordance with the criteria in Article 12:03 of the CUPE 4580 collective agreement:
           
            Graduate Assistantship eligibility requirements:

  • Currently enrolled graduate student in Psychology
  • Must be registered for the term of work at the time of hiring
  • Must maintain fulltime registration throughout the term and must be in good standing in the degree program
    NOTE: Graduate Assistantship requires an average of 10 hours per week for a maximum of 140 hours per semester.

Teaching Assistantship eligibility requirements: (TA positions will be assigned if there is a shortage of GA applicants)

  • Must be fourth year standing or beyond
  • Currently enrolled undergraduate student majoring in Psychology, Disabilities Studies, or Behavior, Cognition, Neuroscience
  • Must have 80% cumulative average or above
  • Have taken and obtained a high mark in the specific course
  • Must be registered for the term of work at the time of hiring
  • Must maintain registration throughout the term and must be in good standing in the degree program

NOTE: Teaching Assistants cannot be employed for more than 100 hours per semester total. If you already hold or have applied for another TA position (in this or another department) note that the total combined hours for all TA appointments held in all departments cannot exceed 100 hours.
     
Assistants will be required to assist with one or more of the following:

  • Marking of tests and exams.
  • Assisting with preparation of course materials.
  • Teaching labs.
  • Proctoring exams.
  • Attending classes.
  • Managing grading.
  • Holding office hours.
  • Other duties assigned by the course instructor on Form 1.
  • Exam proctoring responsibilities as assigned by the Department of Psychology.

All GAs and TAs hired are required to complete the online accessibility training and Integrated Accessibility Standards Act training at uwindsor.ca/required training and provide proof of completion to the Department of Psychology. You must complete the training and submit the certificate to Psychology one time while at the University of Windsor. Please note:  Psychology will only compensate GAs/TAs under contract, one time, for up to 2 hours to complete both training modules, if the training has not been previously completed.
