Odette School of Business to collaborate with Indian university on teaching, mentorship

(Windsor, Ontario, August 11, 2021) – A new academic partnership with Chitkara University in India will see Odette School of Business faculty providing feedback, support, knowledge, and skills sharing with their academic counterparts, while fostering connections with Indian students who plan future studies at UWindsor.

This innovative program structure allows students to specialize in areas of high market demand, including accounting, human resources, finance, supply chain and business analytics, marketing and strategy, and entrepreneurship in their home country – saving international student tuition fees. Following two years of UWindsor-mentored study at Chitkara, students will transition to the University of Windsor program.

At the end of four years, Chitkara students will earn a University of Windsor Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree and will be eligible to apply for three-year post-study work permits in Canada.

“International education brings important benefits that lead to a successful and secure future for all involved,” said Chris Busch, Associate Vice-President of Enrolment at the University of Windsor.

Dr. Busch says this unique program provides participants with the opportunity to develop a broader worldview, strengthen communication skills across languages and cultures, and build crucial international connections.

Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor of Chitkara University says programs like the UWindsor partnership help keep students engaged in their education during challenging times.

“At Chitkara University we are continuously innovating our program offerings and with the prevailing pandemic challenges such innovative hybrid programs help students keep their study and career aspirations on track.”

UWindsor President & Vice-Chancellor Robert Gordon was joined by Chitkara University Pro-Chancellor Madhu Chitkara, Canadian Consul General Mia Yen, and members of senior leadership from both institutions for a virtual signing agreement today.

“Today’s business climate demands a global perspective,” said Odette School of Business Dean Mitch Fields.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer that experience to Chitkara students,  and know that UWindsor faculty and students will be enriched by the opportunity to share and learn with our counterparts at Chitkara University.”
