The University of Windsor seeks expressions of interest from faculty interested in being nominated for the Robbins-Ollivier Excellence in Equity Award, which funds bold and potentially game-changing institutional-level initiatives that will challenge the status quo, spark change and take action to address persistent systemic barriers within the institution research ecosystem and academia more broadly; recognize faculty members who contribute their time, expertise and lived experience to help address inequities in their institution, the research ecosystem and academia; and provide opportunities for students and trainees to contribute to this important work.
- Award value: $100,000
- Award duration: One year
Institutions are limited to one nomination per year, so only one expression of interest will be selected to move forward.
To be eligible for nomination, you must:
- Be a faculty member on a full-time, continuing appointment at the University of Windsor.
- Have a demonstrated record of commitment to equity in the research/academic system or the community more broadly through your scholarship, teaching, and service.
- Be in good standing with SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR (no outstanding reports or sanctions in place).
The expression of interest must include a 2-page proposal outlining a bold, game-changing initiative that can be launched at the University of Windsor to benefit students, researchers, and the academic community more broadly. The proposal should highlight existing barriers and how the initiative will help break down or overcome those barriers, amplify strengths and opportunities and should identify avenues for student involvement in research, outreach, and program delivery. Please also include why you are the right person to develop and deliver the initiative, and what supports will be required.
Expressions of interest will be scored on the following criteria:
- Nature and feasibility of the program proposed
- Experience of the applicant and relevance to the proposal
- Opportunities for student involvement
- Contribution to understanding and addressing of systemic barriers in academia
Key dates:
- Expression of interest due – September 30, 2024, 4:30PM
