Going Above and Beyond in Research Award A Faculty of Science Student Award Application Deadline: Friday, February 16, 2018
To recognize and reward students whose research has been outstanding and who have made significant strides both at the national and international levels. This award will recognize research success that exceeds typical expectations of the discipline.

The committee will be examining the application packages for evidence of (but not limited to):

  • National/international research contributions (conferences, awards, publications)
  • Research is novel, innovative and thus has contributed significantly to the field of research and may potentially improve quality of life.

Any full-time Faculty of Science student at any level.

Nomination Process:
Nominations made by Primary Investigators/Supervisors.

Application packages will include:

  1. Nomination letter by Primary Investigator/Supervisor (nomination letter should emphasize the nominee’s role within the research project)
  2. One letter of support from a different Faculty Member
  3. CV of Nominee

Application packages should be submitted electronically to:

Review Process:
Application packages will be circulated to the Award Committee electronically for individual review. The committee will then meet to discuss the applications, and reach a final decision.
The Award Committee, will consist of the Faculty of Science Executive Committee (or their designate), 1 undergraduate student and 1 graduate student.

The Award will be given to a maximum of one Undergraduate, one Master’s, and one Doctoral student each year. Successful applicants will receive a $1,000 and a certificate. Undergraduate level Awards will be presented at the Science Society’s Annual Charity Ball on March 23, 2019. Graduate level Awards will be presented at the Faculty of Science Spring & Shout event on April 3, 2019.
