Topic: Current Trends in Drug Related Deaths 

Dr. Francisco J. Diaz received his medical degree in his native country, Dominican Republic and after that trained in Anatomic Pathology at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in affiliation with Temple University. His fellowship in forensic pathology was at the office of the chief medical examiner in the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in affiliation with Hahnemann University (now Drexel). After completing the fellowship, Dr. Diaz joined the office of the medical examiner in Wayne County, Michigan in July 2001. During his career, he has performed 8000 autopsies and testified hundreds of times in circuit, district and federal courts as well as civil depositions.

In January 2012 with the affiliation of the medical examiner's office of Wayne County and the University of Michigan Pathology department, he was appointed to the faculty and holds the rank of assistant professor. Dr. Diaz is the author of 35 peer reviewed articles, abstracts and presentations. He has also been invited on numerous occasions to speak at regional, national and international conferences. He is board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Forensic Pathology.

Clinical Interest:

Cardiovascular pathology, homicides, and mass disasters.
 

Research:

Drug related deaths or suicides.
