The German Academic Exchange Service

Monthly stipend of 650 Euros, plus additional funds to support research and health insurance costs

- must demonstrate your awareness of German and European affairs

- must have a clearly defined plan for research and study in Germany for between 4 and 10 months

Think Swiss Research Scholarship January 31 CHR 1050 (approx. $1450) per month for three months

- must be enrolled at a Canadian university, and have completed second year prior to the research

- must arrange the research opportunity directly, with a supervisor at a university in Switzerland. (Some guidance is available via their website.)

Killam Fellowships for study in the U.S. January 31 $10,000, plus $500 for health insurance

- must be a Canadian citizen enrolled full-time at a Canadian institution

- must have a superior academic record

McEuen Scholarship

For study at St. Andrews in Scotland

January 31 Full tuition for three or four years

- must be a Canadian with strong academic and extra-curricular record and under 22 years old

- must complete your first undergraduate degree at St. Andrews

Study Without Borders Scholarship February 22 £5,000

- must be in fourth year, and applying for a Master's program in the U.K.

- must submit an essay about studying abroad

Canada-China Scholars Exchange

Tuition and fees at participating Chinese institutions; monthly stipend; housing; medical insurance

- must be a Canadian citizen

- must be enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program at a Canadian institution

- must have sufficient fluency in oral and written Chinese

- must undertake study in an approved subject area

MEXT Scholarship for study in Japan May 30 Tuition, monthly stipend, and round-trip travel between Canada and Japan
