The Drawing and Painting department within the School of Creative Arts at the University of Windsor is an extensive, formal, heuristic curriculum that offers an extraordinary opportunity in rigorous hand skill training to support its creative research and production.

Excellent studio space, invaluable foundation of skills, supportive faculty, explore individual creativity and expression.

The Visual Arts program offers you, the developing artist, excellent working space, an invaluable foundation of skills, supportive faculty and the opportunity to explore, share and realize individual creativity and expression.

It offers in-depth studio practices and art history combined with exhibition opportunities and exposure to the cultural institutions of Windsor and Detroit.

Our studio faculty members exhibit their own work nationally and internationally, and our art history faculty members are invited to lecture in other communities both in Canada and abroad. Among our graduates are nationally known artists, faculty at universities in both Canada and the US, and curators in major art galleries.

Off-site trips for data collection and visiting artists in studio play an integral role in the success of the program’s students. Producing work on-site develops visual literacy and critical acumen. The direct exposure to the wider art and cultural community is a preamble to a lifetime’s engagement in the disciplines of Drawing and Painting.
