Before my Ph.D. in Political Science, I completed an M.A. in Canadian Studies with a Women's Studies concentration, so I have a long interdisciplinary relationship with Women's and Gender Studies.

I research and teach in the fields of Canadian politics, comparative public policy, and women, gender and politics and am most engaged in research that combines all three of these areas.  I'm particularly interested in approaching political questions and public policy analysis from a feminist women-centred perspective.

Teaching in Women's and Gender Studies has helped me learn to better operationalize political science inquiry from a women-centred perspective. I work to communicate this approach to students by demystifying what "feminism" is and illustrating how relevant it is to our understanding of politics and the social world.
