Editorial Process

1. All members of the Board of Editors internally review all submissions. Shortly after receiving the manuscript, the Board deliberates as to whether to reject the manuscript or to proceed with external peer review. Submissions that pass the first assessment are then sent to two external reviewers chosen by the Editorial Board with expertise in areas that reflect the substantive content and method of the submission. The external reviewing is blind. All references to the author are deleted if the author has not already done so. Upon receipt of the external reviews, the Editorial Board makes a decision to publish, to publish upon the satisfaction of conditions, or to reject. On occasions, the manuscript is accepted but the author is asked for her/his best efforts to respond to the comments external reviews or editors. External reviewers’ comments are shared with authors. On occasion, the reviewer(s) request a direct dialogue with an author in order to improve the submission. Conditional acceptances are also made, subject to the author accommodating or responding to a reviewer’s comments.

2. If accepted, the manuscript proceeds through an editorial process where an editor checks that the style of the manuscript conforms with the “Submission Guidelines”. The manuscript is returned to the author with requests to consent to the changes. Final decisions on spelling, punctuation, documentation, and stylistic points, including the over-use of italics and quotes, however, rest with the Editors. The Editors will send galley proofs to those authors who request them. The entire journal will be read by editors against the final version of a manuscript. The onus is on the author to request the galley proofs in which case immediate turnaround will be required.
